Janské Lázně is attractive to visitors from all over the country and abroad, with an average of 12 thousand patients and clients coming here for treatment and relaxation every year. In the first nine months of 2018, 10% more adult clients used the spa services than in the same period last year. Trutnoviny readers will probably be most interested in what makes Janské Lázně attractive to residents in the area and visitors to the mountains and how they use it? Martin Voženílek, director of the Janské Lázně spa, answers.
We operate a rehabilitation pool for the public daily, filled with warm mineral water from our natural healing source. The pool includes indoor and outdoor whirlpools, bubble beds, countercurrent, massage water curtains and more. In the Aquacenter area, visitors can use two saunas, a classic Finnish and a steam sauna, with a cooling pool. Every day of the week, interested parties can use the services of top spa masseurs, who offer classic and exotic massages as part of the Aquacenter wellness program.

The fitness center, located in the Aquacentrum building on Obchodní ulica, is open to the public every day from morning to evening. It consists of a functional, strength and cardio zone. Professional fitness trainers are available to visitors around the clock, and they also regularly organize circuit training. By the end of the year, we will equip the gym with other world-famous lower limb strengthening machines.
The fitness center also offers a very effective method for treating back and joint pain, the SM-system by MUDr. Smíška. It is also part of the weekly Back Pain Program package, which is one of the best-selling self-pay programs and also won third place in the Great Tourism Competition for the best spa and wellness package.

You have many plans for developing services for the general public for 2019. What are you specifically planning?
Next year, we will focus, among other things, on the development of wellness and plan to expand the range of saunas and massages. At the same time, we will modernize the entry system to the Aquacenter. Fitness under the guidance of experienced trainers will offer spa clients and the general public the opportunity for individual training hours. We expect great interest from the public from the region here. Clients from Hradec and Prague already regularly come to see our fitness trainers. They appreciate their rich professional experience gained in England and Australia and their approach to the individual needs of each client, whether it is a disabled client, a mother after giving birth or a fan of bodyforming or bodybuilding.
Let's look back at 2018, which was full of changes for the spa and for you personally.
After my appointment as director in March 2018, the most important task was to stabilize the management. Already in the middle of the year, I managed to fill the positions of commercial and economic deputy again. Both are key both for the proper operation of the spa and for drawing up long-term plans for the coming years. We are intensively stabilizing the staff and trying to supplement it with doctors so that we can fully handle the existing demand for treatment not only through health insurance companies. All our capacities are occupied by 95 percent and the average treatment time is 4-5 weeks, self-payers stay with us for an average of 6 days. And that is good news. 2018 was and still is a year of preparations for major investment projects that we will carry out next year. This involves securing financing and preparing projects for the insulation of the Vesna children's sanatorium, the reconstruction of two floors and the reconstruction of the kitchen in the children's sanatorium, and arranging tenders for suppliers of these works. At the same time, we have again supplemented the equipment of the rehabilitation departments of both sanatoriums with new modern rehabilitation equipment. For example, in the adult treatment center, we purchased a robotic device for upper limb rehabilitation, especially suitable for stroke patients.

You have taken a lot of care of the healing water this year., and therefore the Janský well. What stage is its reconstruction in?
We needed to stabilize our source of natural healing mineral water, so we focused on rehabilitating the borehole itself, where water leaks into the subsoil were detected. In the second phase, we plan to resume operation of the large swimming pool, which is directly above the borehole, by insulating the pool tub. This will make the management of the natural healing source more efficient, as we will prevent unwanted, but still natural, water leaks into the subsoil. I would like to add that even during these works, we provide patients and clients with full treatment and relaxation.

Yes, in September, in cooperation with the Duha z Trutnova Foundation, we organized the first annual charity march to Černá hora, the March for a Good Cause 2018. Spa employees and all interested parties had the opportunity to climb the peak of Černá hora on foot and thus enable the purchase of a motomed rehabilitation device for a young patient of the Vesna Children's Hospital, who is currently undergoing intensive rehabilitation after a serious oncological illness. On November 17, we opened an exhibition on the history of spas in the historic Sokolovna building and it enjoyed great interest from visitors. The permanent exhibition was created with our Polish partner, the spa town of Szczawno-Zdrój, with the support of subsidies from the Interreg VA Czech Republic - Poland 2014-2020 program. During the year, we held many other cultural and experiential events at the spa for both our clients and all interested parties and visitors, such as the traditional Opening of the Spa Season, St. Wenceslas Culinary Day and others.

What do you personally enjoy the most?
I am proud that we maintain the quality of the care provided, we can also take care of patients with reduced mobility, after operations and strokes. And - undoubtedly also thanks to the Terra hotel - the number of visitors from self-paying guests, including foreign clients, is increasing. I am pleased that Janské Lázně has permanent employees who are eager to participate in the further development of the spa and who devote considerable effort and commitment to it. I appreciate them very much, because they do their work with all their heart, and I am glad that I have the opportunity to thank them publicly in this way.
What do you wish for spas in 2019?
Successful implementation of planned projects. I believe that we will be able to implement the planned major projects at the Vesna Children's Hospital, stabilize the spring and start working on the study of a new, backup well. And of course, satisfied employees and clients.
