The Vesna Children's Hospital building houses an elementary school and a kindergarten.
The kindergarten at the children's sanatorium provides preschool education for children from 3 years old. The classes are located directly in the building of the Vesna children's sanatorium. The kindergarten is open on weekdays from 7:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Children can visit the kindergarten at any time during operating hours, taking into account their treatment regimen.
The entire educational process is closely connected with the child's treatment. All activities are adapted to their special needs, current condition and are focused on the all-round development of the individual with priority given to activities leading to compensation for handicaps and relaxation between treatment procedures. Great emphasis is placed on the adaptation of children so that they are satisfied, joyful and stress-free during their treatment stay.
Each child is approached individually, with an effort to respect their wishes, needs and interests. Comprehensive care is implemented in close cooperation with the attending physician and rehabilitation, who indicate activities with regard to the child's diagnosis.
More information can be found at school website.
An integral part of spa care is the varied use of free time. The program of activities is compiled with regard to the individual and mental capabilities of children.
Unaccompanied children are cared for by educators during times when these children do not have procedures or school classes.
The educators prepare a varied range of activities that are primarily aimed at unaccompanied children, but we do not forget about other children either. Weekend events, competitions and concerts are designed for all clients.
During leisure activities, we primarily try to develop social skills in children, and secondarily work habits and hobbies. We always try to achieve the maximum possible development of the abilities of our child clients.
A large part of the activities offered focus on the development of gross and fine motor skills. Children can learn the basics of various art and work techniques. Most of the products are taken home by the children, some are decorated in individual departments.
In the summer months, children spend their time outdoors playing sports, walking and hiking in the pure mountain nature and taking trips around the area. In the winter, their free time is used for winter fun - building snowmen, bobsledding, etc. There is also a cinema in the Vesna building, which shows films for children for free twice a week throughout the year.
Artistic and work activities
In terms of leisure activities, we mainly focus on art and vocational education, and we try to support children's creativity.
According to the current holidays, we prepare various art competitions, where children are awarded in the form of diplomas and small gifts. As part of meaningful spending of free time, we strive for children to learn new things, acquire new knowledge and skills.
Music and knowledge activities
We do not forget about music education and knowledge competitions. As part of the procedures, children learn to play the flute. In the offer of over-the-counter procedures, it is possible to purchase the procedure even for children who are not indicated for this procedure. According to the interests of children, we prepare music competitions where we look for "Janská Lázeň" talents.
Physical and game activities
Sports activities are prepared taking into account the age of the children and their physical abilities.
For the youngest children, we focus on play activities. Through play, children learn to better understand the world around them.
For young children aged 3 to 7, educators organize carnival discos with competitions and prizes. In addition to educators, kindergarten teachers, health personnel and parents are also involved in making masks. Children are naturally competitive and like to test their skills.
We prepare various knowledge competitions for the middle-aged group, and tournaments in chess, checkers, table tennis, and puzzle-making are held.
Popular competitions include Boccia competitions (similar to petanque), where children can participate regardless of age or disability, and we also combine team composition. We build children's positive relationship with sports and promote the joy of movement.
The last age group consists of children aged 12 to 19. Activities with them are focused on sports activities and organizing events at Vesna. We try to lead these children to actively participate in creating programs and programs for themselves and for younger patients. Every year they help in preparing the "Children's Day" and "Magic Day with Krakonoš", when they ensure the running of all competitions, but they also participate in making prizes (we bake gingerbread, make friendship bracelets, pictures from iron-on beads, sew pin cushions, pillows that decorate children's embroidery, etc.).
To spend free time with children, there is a children's playroom available in all departments of the Vesna sanatorium and in the Réva annex.
There is also an indoor playground on the 3rd floor of the Vesna building, which is intended for all clients of the children's hospital, including those accommodated in the Réva annex. An outdoor playground is located in front of the Vesna building.
For climatotherapy (staying in the fresh air), you can use one of the recommended climatotherapy routes. Maps with these routes can be found on the noticeboard of each department or at the reception.
The Vesna building also houses a cinema, which screens films for free for clients twice a week throughout the year. The cinema program, as well as the current offer of cultural events, can be found on the information boards in the Vesna and Réva buildings.
Outside of the treatment period, you can also take longer trips around the area with your children or take advantage of the varied offer of nearby attractions. Find out more about the possibilities of spending your free time in winter and summer here.
Events
Various concerts of popular and classical music are held in the Vesna cinema or the Art Nouveau Kolonáda café.
We prepare trips around Janské Lázně and the surrounding area. In the summer months we participate in the Aviation Day, which is organized in cooperation with the Aviation Services in Hradec Králové, and we regularly organize trips to the ZOO in Dvůr Králové.
These events are usually supported by sponsorship donations. Several times a year, "Puppets in the Hospital" come to play with us, who, in addition to waiving their fees, also give out smiles and countless gifts. Depending on the interests and individual abilities of clients, we also organize trips to Černá hora.
We will be happy to welcome familiar faces from the cultural and sporting life. Pavel Šporcl introduced himself to the children and played his blue violin, on the Magic Day with Krakonoš we could see performances by Monika Bagárová or Jenny Ciatti (singer from the musical Children of Paradise). Children could paint pictures with the famous painter Josef Nesvadba. In the Colonnade, the actress from the first film Cinderella, Jana Hrušková, sang. As part of the training camp, hockey players from the famous Liberec club Bílí tygři also visited us.
