Psychologist
The spa employs a child psychologist and an adult psychologist. According to Luboš Kasl, who works with children at Vesna, their duties and work activities can be described as follows: "They perform psychological examinations and diagnostics on patients indicated for examination by a doctor. Based on the psychological examination, they establish a therapeutic plan describing the suitability, type, frequency and number of therapies. They perform psychological therapy, cognitive function testing and, based on the results, cognitive training. They cooperate and consult with other members of the healthcare department, i.e. doctors, physiotherapists, speech therapists, occupational therapists, teachers and educators."
However, not all patients go through a psychologist's office. Either they do not need such care, or they are already being monitored psychologically, psychiatrically, and, for example, neurologically in their place of permanent residence. "Some parents, on the other hand, welcome the opportunity to discuss their child's difficulties with another psychologist who is not burdened with the case, and demand an independent opinion on diagnostics, therapy, etc. However, other individuals refuse to see a psychologist. We must respect this, even though it is in the spa that guests have the time and peace to stop and make space for matters that they cannot handle in the daily stress," says Lubos Kasl.
In his practice with pediatric patients, he mostly encounters combined disorders including psychological burdens. The so-called daily order of things are psychomotor delays in childhood development, autism spectrum disorders, ADHD behavioral disorders, various forms and degrees of mental retardation. He addresses preschool maturity and competence, the child's integration into the team, aggression, autoaggression, neurotic states, sleep deprivation, bedwetting, and in older children also suicidal thoughts. "In my work, I place the greatest emphasis on a personal approach and empathy. Every life story and psychological problem is closely specific, related exclusively to the unique and unrepeatable personality of the client. It is important to have enough time for patients, to personally devote myself to them and listen to them. That alone is uplifting and liberating in our busy times,” concludes the child psychologist.
