From 1 January 2015, the amended Act on Public Health Insurance No. 256/2014 Coll. entered into force, which also includes the newly amended Indication List for Spa Care, which regulates the rules for the provision of spa care covered by health insurance companies.: law 256-2014
"The revised Indication List will be more favorable for patients, as it returns the length of stay to 28 days for selected diagnoses. It allows for an extension of treatment for a number of pediatric diagnoses."
Below are the main changes published by the Association of Medical Spas that the amendment brings.:
• Subsidized spa stay for adults – the length is set at 21 days, or 14 days (only in indicated cases).
• For all pediatric indications, the possibility of extending the length of stays at the suggestion of the attending physician has been added.
• For other adult indications, the possibility of extending stays is given at the suggestion of the attending spa doctor.
• For some adult indications, the possibility of repeating stays has been adjusted.
• The amendment specifies some requirements (e.g. the definition of the interval for repeated stays).
The extension of comprehensive spa stays for adults for selected indications from 21 to 28 days applies to the following groups:
• circulatory system diseases (4 indications out of 9 – II/2, II/3, II/6,II/9)
• respiratory diseases (4 indications out of 7 - V/1, V/5, V/6, V/7)
• nervous diseases (8 indications out of 11 - VI/1, VI/2, VI/4, VI/5, VI/6, VI/7, VI/8, VI/10)
• musculoskeletal diseases (6 indications out of 12 – VII/1, VII/2, VII/3, VII/4, VII/10, VII/11)
• mental illness (1 indication out of 2 – IX/1)
• skin diseases (4 indications out of 5 – X/2, X/3, X/4, X/5)
• gynecological diseases (1 indication out of 3 – XI/3)
In total, comprehensive stays for adults will be extended by one week for 28 indications out of a total of 66 indications, i.e. for 43% of adult indications.
The following will therefore be directly stipulated by law:
• length of treatment stay
• possibilities of its extension
• subsequent repetition of the spa stay
• criteria not arising from purely medical reasons
An implementing decree of the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic will be issued for the law - on the establishment of professional criteria and other requirements for the provision of spa medical rehabilitation care.
The draft decree regulates:
• professional medical criteria for providing spa medical rehabilitation care
• indication assumptions
• contraindications
• professional criteria for providing spa care, including necessary examinations
• content requirements of a proposal for spa care
• the field of specialization of the doctor who recommends the care
• requirements for the availability of healthcare workers of the provider of spa medical rehabilitation care
• indicative focus of spa locations
