Treatment programs

The main facility is the Vesna Children's Hospital , which is located in a quiet environment surrounded by forests, approximately 8 minutes walk from the very center of Janske Lazne.

• Everything under one roof: A huge advantage for tired children and parents is that accommodation, meals and all medical procedures take place in one complex. The building is also completely barrier-free.

• Réva Annex: Children who are being treated for respiratory (breathing) problems or minor movement diagnoses can also be accommodated in the adjacent Réva spa building. The spa decides on placement based on their health status and available capacity.

What does health insurance cover?

As part of Comprehensive Spa Care (KLP), the health insurance company covers all major costs for the child.

• Complete medical and nursing care.

• Dining.

• Standard accommodation.

• If the attending physician indicates (prescribes) the need for transportation, the insurance company will also reimburse the trip to the spa.

What about the accompanying person (parents)?

The spa remembers that family support is crucial for a child's successful treatment. There are clear rules for accompanying guests:

• Insurance-approved companion: If the doctor and insurance company approve an adult companion, the insurance company will fully cover standard accommodation and meals for this parent (or other eligible adult). The guide lives in the same room as the child and assists the child throughout their stay.

• Incapacity for work (disability): Great news for working parents is that they are recognized as temporarily unable to work while accompanying their child to the KLP . So you don't have to take precious vacation time for the stay.

• Accompanying person as self-payer: If your insurance company does not approve an accompanying person, but you still want to go with your child, you can pay for accommodation and meals yourself (depending on the spa's available capacity).

Accommodations

• Unaccompanied children: If a child goes to the spa alone without their parents, they are accommodated exclusively in triple rooms with other children.

• Standard vs. Superior: The insurance company covers a standard bed. If you would like a room with superior amenities for yourself and your child, you will need to pay extra according to the spa's current price list (these rooms have limited capacity and cannot be reserved for unaccompanied children).

• Check-in date: The exact date you will check-in is determined by the spa facility itself based on its current availability. However, if you wish to stay in a specific building or room category, please contact our admissions office as soon as possible after receiving the initial information, which will inform you of the current options.

   

The Neurorehabilitation treatment program for children with cerebral palsy (CP) within the Specialized Treatment Institute (OLÚ) in the Vesna Children's Hospital represents highly specialized, intensive care. The program combines the traditional spa facilities of Janské Lázně with the most modern neurorehabilitation methods. The rehabilitation program is designed specifically for children with CP. Our goal is the maximum possible development of the child's motor (movement) and cognitive (cognitive) abilities, increasing their self-sufficiency and overall improvement of the quality of life of the entire family.

Main pillars of the program

The program is based on neuroplasticity of the brain - the ability of the nervous system to respond to intensive and properly targeted training by creating new neural connections. The treatment plan is always individually tailored to the child's current condition.

• Intensive individual physiotherapy: A key part of the program led by experienced therapists who specialize in neurodevelopmental concepts (e.g. Vojta method, Bobath concept).

• Modern robotic rehabilitation and device therapy: Use of cutting-edge technologies and trainers that help practice correct movement patterns and gait.

• Connection with natural resources: Part of the therapy includes the use of local unique thermal mineral water in the form of baths, which help to relieve muscle tension (spasticity).

• Multidisciplinary approach: Care includes not only exercise therapy, but also occupational therapy (training in daily activities) if necessary, speech therapy and psychological support.
  How the “Two-Stay Cycle” Works (Length and Intensity)

One proposal, two treatment stays

The treatment does not take place as a single stay, but is designed in two phases within the framework of an annual cycle.

• One proposal = Two stays: For one approved proposal by the OLÚ, the child completes 2 separate stays, each lasting 28 days . The doctor (specialist or pediatrician) recommends the Vesna Children's Hospital in Janské Lázně in the proposal, where treatment can be obtained, and sends the proposal to the patient's health insurance company. He/she marks on the proposal that it is a treatment day OD 00035. The change of the Proposal for rehabilitation care in the OLÚ to neurorehabilitation care can also be proposed by the head physician of the hospital, provided that the conditions are met.

• Timetable: Both stays must take place within a maximum of 12 consecutive months . There must also be a minimum gap of 6 months between the first and second stays.

• Venue: Both stays must be carried out exclusively at the Vesna Children's Hospital in Janské Lázně.

Patient Inclusion Criteria

In order for a child to be included in this intensive program, they must meet the following conditions:

1. Age: The program is intended for pediatric patients under 18 years of age.

2. Diagnosis: The primary diagnosis must be cerebral palsy (CP).

3. Exercise capacity: The patient must be physically and mentally able to handle and accept a demanding program of at least 4 hours of exercise and therapy per day.

What does health insurance cover?

The treatment program takes place in the regime of a Specialized Treatment Institute (OLÚ). The health insurance company fully covers:

• Complete intensive medical, rehabilitation and nursing care.

• Standard accommodation and all-day meals for a pediatric patient.

• Transport by ambulance if indicated by the attending physician for medical reasons.

Parental guidance and practical information

We know that the presence of a loved one is essential for the child's psychological well-being and the success of therapy.

• Accompanying person's stay at the insurance company: If the accompanying person is approved by the insurance company's examining doctor, the parent's accommodation and meals in the room with the child are fully covered.

• Incapacity for work: The child's guide is entitled to temporary incapacity for work during the stay in the hospital , so they do not have to take regular leave.

• Facilities of the treatment center: The entire program takes place under one roof in the barrier-free complex of the Vesna Children's Treatment Center in Janské Lázně, which is surrounded by the peaceful nature of the Krkonoše Mountains.

The Specialized Treatment Institute (STI) program for children at the Vesna Children's Hospital (Janské Lázně) is designed for intensive rehabilitation treatment of children who need specialized care, most often after injuries, surgeries, or chronic illnesses.

Who is the OLÚ program intended for?

This program focuses on children in the stabilization stage of the disease . The spa accepts patients in this mode in two ways:

• Direct transfer from the hospital (priority admission): Most often these are children who come straight from hospital inpatient departments after the acute stage of the disease has subsided or after orthopedic and neurological surgeries.

• Doctor's suggestion: The program may also be recommended by a general practitioner or specialist for children who suffer from chronic musculoskeletal problems or neurological diseases.

Key criteria for admission: In order to be admitted for intensive rehabilitation, a child must be circulatory and metabolically compensated, able to handle intense exercise, cooperative, and free of nosocomial infection. The goal is for the child's condition to improve significantly through rehabilitation.

What does health insurance cover?

Similar to spa care, in the OLÚ regime, the health insurance company fully reimburses the child for:

• Standard costs of medical and nursing care.

• Standard accommodation and meals.

• Transport to the institution, if the attending physician medically indicates (prescribes) it.

Accompanying parents and incapacity for work

The spa maximally supports the presence of parents, which helps children better cope with the demanding rehabilitation program.

• Insurance-covered accompaniment: If the insurance company approves the accompaniment, it will cover the standard accommodation and meals. The accompanying adult must be available to the child and assist him/her throughout the stay.

• Temporary incapacity for work: It is a great advantage for parents that they are recognized as temporarily incapacitated for work during their stay in the OLÚ with their child . They do not have to take regular leave from work.

• Accompanying as a self-payer: If the insurance company does not approve the accompanying person, the parent can travel at their own expense (according to the OLÚ price list) and stay in the room with the child, but only if the spa has free capacity.

Accommodation and environment

• All in one building: Children are accommodated directly in the Vesna Children's Sanatorium complex, which is fully barrier-free and surrounded by forests (8 minutes walk from the center). Treatment, accommodation and food are all in one place. The building and room type are determined by the spa based on the child's health condition.

• Unaccompanied children: If children are attending treatment alone, they are accommodated exclusively in triple rooms.

• Above standard: The insurance company covers a standard bed (without above standard equipment). A room with above standard equipment can be ordered for an additional fee, but their number is limited and they are not available for unaccompanied children.

• Date: The exact arrival date is determined exclusively by the spa; advance booking of a specific date is not possible.

Eating and important diet reports

The first day starts with lunch, the last day ends with breakfast; from the second day onwards, a choice of two types of meals is available.
