Physiotherapists from Janske Lazne and Szczawno-Zdrój inspire each other

Physiotherapists from Janske Lazne and Szczawno-Zdrój inspire each other.
They appreciated the educational opportunities that were available to them thanks to the cross-border project.

(Janské Lázně, 2. 3. 2018) A memorandum of cooperation in the field of spa tourism on the Czech-Polish border was signed on Tuesday, 27 February 2018, by the director of the State Medical Spa Janské Lázně Martin Voženílek and the chairman of the board of directors of the Polish Spa Szczawno-Jedlina Paweł Skrzywanek. This was done at the end of a joint conference in Janské Lázně, which brought together all participants in the microproject entitled Exchange of Experience in Rehabilitation in Janské Lázně and Szczawno-Zdrój, for which both spa facilities received financial support from the Microproject Fund in the Euroregion Glacensis within the Interreg VA Czech Republic - Poland Programme.

Rehabilitation workers from both spa facilities thus completed a year-long cooperation, based on which they exchanged their experiences, shared new solutions and provided "know-how" during exchange internships. They also learned the language of their neighbor. The key topics of the project were rehabilitation and physiotherapy procedures in healthcare facilities on the Czech and Polish sides.

"I'm glad I was able to find out how things work abroad. It was an opportunity for me to try out procedures that we don't have here, such as cryotherapy or a hyperbaric chamber, the only one in Poland," said physiotherapist Bianka, who works at the adult spa in Janské Lázně. Her colleague Jozef from the Vesna children's spa praised the Aquavibron device in the Szczawno-Jedlina spa: "This app was great, it was the first thing we didn't know at all." Bianka specified a significant difference – Polish colleagues focus primarily on prevention in their spas, while Janské Lázně is specific in its focus on therapeutic therapy for movement and neurological diseases, with the advantage of individual physiotherapy. Bianka and her other colleagues appreciate the educational opportunities that the Janské Lázně project has provided them. "My intention is to continue to educate, enrich and develop myself so that I can provide quality assistance to clients," she added.

During their internships in Janské Lázně, the Polish project participants were impressed by the modern robotic rehabilitation equipment in the adult and children's treatment centers Vesna. It was here that they were also able to try the Vojta method, thanks to which the spa is renowned worldwide.  "We know the Vojta method from school and therefore only theoretically, none of us have had personal experience in practice with this method yet," said Polish physiotherapist Beata. A completely new thing for them in Janské Lázně was, for example, the method of MUDr. Smíšek, popular with clients in the rehabilitation of the back and large joints.

Thanks to the experience gained, spas on the Czech and Polish sides can evaluate the need for the existing rehabilitation offer for patients, expand the exercise methods through exchange internships and design new suitable training for rehabilitation workers. They can thus improve and make the offer of procedures more attractive for spa guests, but most importantly further enrich their experience in the field of rehabilitation. The first possible areas of cooperation were decided at the conference in Janské Lázně, which all participants are very much looking forward to.
