The mats, parallel bars and horizontal bars have finally left the large hall of the former falconry - the original spa house No. 55. They have been replaced by 21 panels with period photographs, artifacts and experiential elements on the history of spas in Janské Lázně and in Szczawno-Zdrój, Poland. "We designed our new Czech-Polish spa center to be attractive to visitors across generations. So that they would want to stop by, learn something interesting, have fun and take something as a souvenir. They can leave with, for example, a selfie from a bath in a historic wooden bathtub, which they will take in a prepared photo corner," says technical department manager Petr Janovec.
The exhibition on the history of spa tourism in Janské Lázně will be opened on the Czech national holiday, November 17, at noon in the presence of important guests from the Czech and Polish sides. The public will be able to visit the exhibition on the opening day from 13 p.m. to 17 p.m.

From the discovery of a healing spring, through the important activities of the Schwarzenbergs to a unique polio treatment center
The Janské Lázně spa has a rich history and is the only spa on the Czech side of the Giant Mountains. The first book that introduced Janské Lázně to the world was published in 1680. Its author was the imperial royal sworn provincial physicist Georg Ignaz Hettmayer. In addition to the origins of the spa, he gave readers a list of diseases that can be treated in the spa. He recommended that spa guests always have a good mood, which they can achieve with good wine and sleep in addition to therapeutic treatments. He also briefly described the chemical composition of the local water.
The most important era in the history of Janske Lazne was discovery of a healing spring in the 11th century, today known as Janský. The 17th and 18th centuries were a very important period. Since 1675, Janské Lázně has been part of the estate of the noble Schwarzenberg family.Five ruling princes developed the healing springs and built twenty houses. The first prince of Schwarzenberg, Jan Adolf I, took the greatest care of the spa. He built five houses, a new spa room with 20 baths, repaired the dilapidated mill and set up rooms in it.
A team of Janské Lázně employees collaborated on the project In the Footsteps of Spa Tourism. "We were interested in how long and rich the history of Janské Lázně is and that already in the 18th century it was a very important spa resort, where elite guests from abroad would come." Kateřina Kaufmannová expressed her feelings on behalf of her colleagues and added: "More than 300 years ago, our spa had a world-famous reputation. Another important stage was the beginning of the 20th century, when a a unique polio treatment center in Europe. " Important advisors and suppliers of materials were the director of the State District Archive in Trutnov, Roman Reil, and Mr. Jan Hainiš, a citizen of Janská Lázně, a witness and collector of historical photographs, objects and memories. "Mr. Hainiš generously provided us with visual materials, lent us the exhibits on display, and was a willing collaborator during the preparation of the exhibition. We thank him for that," said marketing specialist Zuzana Pichlová.
The grand opening of the permanent exhibition on the history of spas is accompanied by a new autumn event Wine day. "In the Art Nouveau Colonnade of Janské Lázně you can meet several winemakers and wine sellers who will offer you domestic and foreign wines. The atmosphere will be complemented by a concert of dulcimer music by Miroslav Kotlár.
